Dear reader,
The 2023 LULUCF Regulation amendment introduced an EU target of -310 million tonnes of CO2 equivalent by 2030. This target will be achieved through binding national net removal targets. The Regulation also aims to improve governance and monitoring by using new land monitoring technologies and reusing geographically explicit datasets, such as those from the Common Agriculture Policy (CAP).
The European Commission, DG CLIMA and the EEA tasked a consortium of contractors to prepare a Handbook that provides guidance and orientation for the implementation of the Regulation.
The Handbook was presented in December at a workshop in Copenhagen. With this survey we invite you to provide feedback on the Handbook and support the elaboration of a revised version. The aim is to continuously update the Handbook with up-to date case studies and examples, as countries improve their land monitoring over time.
